However, McLendon-Covey also plays a mother in Jennifer Love Hewitt’s “White Trash Christmas Carol,” which begins shooting this month in Canada. The comedy has Hewitt taking a lowlife turn as a self-centered, unemployed, whiskey-drinking, Cheez Whiz-eating mother who is about to lose her three children unless she makes some big changes. McLendon-Covey plays “a very reserved character, an uptight mom who doesn’t respond well to Jennifer’s freewheeling ways.”

The book is a 285-page captivating abstract of Hollywood icon Dean Martin’s life, as perceived and witnessed first-hand by the star entertainer’s greatest fan — his devoted daughter.

After taking audience members on an enthralling and visual expedition of some of her best memories growing up with her famous dad, Martin confirmed that singer-turned-actress Jennifer Love Hewitt, 32, is slated to portray the internationally-acclaimed artist in a film adaptation of Martin’s book.

Playwright Bryan Fogel is directing from a script he co-wrote with Sam Wolfson. Fogel will also produce with Andy Fickman, Pavlina Hatoupis and Courtney Mizel.

Described as a cross between “Wedding Crashers” and “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” indie pic follows two childhood best friends who reunite as adults when one asks the other to help him pretend to be Jewish so he can romance a woman.

Sergei will play Christian O’Connell, a gentile plumber who poses as a Jewish doctor in order to land a Jewish girlfriend who’ll make all his decisions for him. Hewitt will play Alison Marks, the object of Christian’s affection, who meets him during a singles mixer at temple.

“Jewtopia” opened in Los Angeles in May 2003, and after 17 weeks, became the longest-running original comedy in the history of L.A. theater. Show opened off-Broadway in Sept. 2004 and is one of the three most successful off-Broadway productions of the last decade, along with “Blue Man Group” and “Stomp,” having recouped its entire investment in a record 16 weeks.

Stageplay ended its Gotham run in April 2007 after more than 1200 performances. It has been seen by over 500,000 people across North America and Canada, with additional productions in Chicago, Florida, Toronto, Tampa and Rochester.

Hewitt recently starred in the “Garfield” movies and is skedded to make her directorial debut with the supernatural pic “Wait Till Helen Comes.”

Sergei is best known for starring on the WB’s “Jack & Jill” and Starz’s “Gravity.” He previously appeared on the bigscreen in Don Roos’ 1998 indie “The Opposite of Sex.”

Sergei is repped by APA and McKeon-Myones Management, while WME and Untitled rep Hewitt along with attorney Robert S. Wallerstein.

Sales head Elias Axume is talking to buyers here on writer-director Marc Erlbaum’s debut about a ravishing coffee shop employee who impacts on the lives of those around her, including a drug dealer and a young woman.

Café is the first film to emerge from Nationlight Productions and was produced by J Andrew Greenblatt, Erlbaum, Sean Covel and Chris Doc Wyatt.

Kevin Iwashina of Preferred Content and Alexis Garcia of WME Global brokered the deal on behalf of the producers with Maya’s Tonantzin Esparza.

“Maya Entertainment is pleased to be a part of this unique comedy that sheds a light on how intertwined our everyday lives and communities really are,” Axume said. “Marc has created a wonderful story that at its heart has a dynamic performance by Ms Hewitt.”

Hewitt and White are set to star in the “Hallmark Hall of Fame” movie “The Lost Valentine,” set to air in early 2011 (if the title’s any indication, perhaps in February). Hewitt will also exec produce the movie, which will shoot in Atlanta this fall.

The “Hallmark Hall of Fame” telepic reps a quick return to the Eye for Hewitt, who just wrapped five years on CBS’ “Ghost Whisperer,” which wasn’t picked up this spring for another season.

Based on the novel by James Michael Pratt, “The Lost Valentine” will star Hewitt as a journalist working on a profile of a woman (White) whose husband was declared MIA during WWII.

Darnell Martin (“Their Eyes Were Watching God”) will direct the longform; scribes Ernest Thompson and Jenny Wingfield are adapting for TV. Joining Hewitt as exec producer is Brent Shields; Andy Gottlieb and Barbara Gangi are producers.

Hewitt most recently starred in Lifetime movie “The Client List.” She’s currently shooting an episode of “Law and Order: SVU” and also released her first book, “The Day I Shot Cupid.”

Hewitt’s other credits include ABC movie “The Audrey Hepburn Story,” as well as the Fox drama “Party of Five.”

It’s also been a busy year for White, who stars in TV Land’s “Hot in Cleveland,” among dozens of other gigs.

The movie, which co-starred Cybill Shepherd, drew 3.9 million viewers amid tough female-centric cable competish: Bravo offered “The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” ABC Family ran “The Secret Life of an American Teenager,” while TNT had a double-bill of “The Closer” and freshman drama “Rizzoli and Isles.” Among femmes 18-34, “Teenager” fared best of the cable entries while “Client” was tops in women 18-49.

Even more of a draw was ABC’s two-hour edition of “The Bachelorette,” which drew nearly 11 million viewers and a season’s best 3.4 rating/10 share in the adults 18-49 demo. Combined with “True Beauty” at 10 p.m., the Alphabet easily won the night.

“The Client List” will be airing on the Lifetime television network on July 19 at 9 pm et/pt!

It’s not the first time Hewitt has mentioned her desire to take on the DC Comics superheroine. Last summer she told MTV News that she wanted the role “really badly” and pointed out that she’s curvaceous and athletic enough and that the gold bracelets would look great on her wrists. But at only 5’2″, isn’t she a little short for the role of the Amazon princess? And isn’t her fame a little short these days, as well? The last big screen appearance she made was in Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties. Perhaps if there’s ever another Wonder Woman TV series, the Ghost Whisperer star would be best suited for that.

We recently heard that Warner Bros. still promises to make Wonder Woman, claiming it’s still in active development, though the studio couldn’t give any sort of timeline. For all we know Hewitt will be an old lady by the time it’s ready to go. And though fans might get excited if Betty White put on the star-spangled costume, she’s probably the only person above the age of 35 that audiences and Hollywood could accept in the role. But if the movie is made soon, would you be okay with Hewitt being cast in her dream role?

Jennifer said she took pole dancing classes to prepare for the role “because it really, really gets you in shape [and] it also really teaches you about your inner sexuality.” Her mom is proud.

The film, tentatively titled “The List,” was penned by “Frasier” alumna Suzanne Martin.

Set in a small Texas town, it centers on a former beauty queen (Hewitt), now a married mother of three, who faces certain foreclosure on her home after an injury sidelines her husband from working.

Convinced that no one as pretty as her deserves to be poor, she takes a job at a massage parlor, only to learn that the clients expect more than a rubdown.

Eric Laneuville, who has directed more than a dozen episodes of CBS’ “Ghost,” is set to helm “List,” which is being produced by Jaffe/Braunstein.

Hewitt will executive produce with Dannielle Thomas, Michael Jaffe and Howard Braunstein.

Production is slated to begin in the spring in Vancouver for a premiere this year.

Hewitt stars in and executive produces “Ghost,” now in its fifth season. She is also set to make a cameo in NBC’s romantic dramedy anthology pilot “Love Bites.”

Martin’s comedy pilot “Hot in Cleveland” recently was picked up to series by TV Land.

Neil Patrick Harris, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Alfred Molina are among those set to voice key characters for the new half-hour animated Christmas special, “Yes, Virginia” which will premiere Friday, Dec. 11 (8:00-8:30 PM, ET/PT), on the CBS Television Network.

The animated special tells the story of 8-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon (Beatrice Miller) a young girl growing up in late 1800s New York City who always loved Christmas, until the playground bully, Charlotte (Julian Franco) tells her and the other children that Santa Claus doesn’t exist.

Not sure what to believe, Virginia and her friend, Ollie (Kieran Patrick Campbell), venture into the streets of New York City to uncover the truth. Along the way, they encounter a Scraggly Santa (Michael Buscemi) who is trying to raise money for the less fortunate (he admits he’s not the real deal, but someone who sort of works for Santa Claus), an over-eager librarian with a shelf full of Christmas books, and interesting advice from Virginia’s quirky scientist father (Neil Patrick Harris) and understanding mother (Jennifer Love Hewitt).

Unable to find the answer, Virginia decides to write a letter to the New York Sun newspaper, and is found by the curmudgeonly editor, Francis Church (Alfred Molina)who feels he has better things to do than respond to a little girl’s question.

Even though a live-action take on the tiara-wearing, gold-bracelet-sporting, Amazonian superhero has been stuck in development hell for years, a wide swath of actresses has been itching to don that star-spangled suit and bring Wonder Woman back into the pop-culture mainstream.

Beyoncé has said she’d like a shot. Vanessa Hudgens wants a go. Keri Russell actually portrayed Wonder Woman, albeit in voice only for an animated DVD. Jessica Biel hasn’t ruled out taking the part. Meanwhile, Megan Fox has been outspoken in her criticism of the character. And then there’s talk of supermodel Megan Gale and “Legend of the Seeker” star Bridget Regan.

Of course, at this point, there are only rumors that a big-screen adaptation is finally moving forward. That hasn’t stopped another actress — perhaps an unlikely candidate for superhero-dom — from volunteering for the gig.

“I want to play Wonder Woman really badly,” Jennifer Love Hewitt told MTV News at San Diego Comic Con. “I want them to make the movie of Wonder Woman, and I want to play Wonder Woman so bad. That’d be really fun.”
