Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jamie Kennedy Split

After a year-long romance, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jamie Kennedy have broken up, a rep has confirmed exclusively to PEOPLE.

No further details were available.

Though some in the blogosphere called them an unlikely couple, Kennedy and Hewitt regularly gushed over each other.

When Kennedy first confirmed the romance in March 2009, he told Ryan Seacrest during a radio interview, “I’m in love!” Describing his costar on Ghost Whisperer, Kennedy said: “It’s like, ‘Wow, you are hot. You can sing, you can dance, you’re like, so smart and, wow, you can cook pasta fagioli, too.’ ”

Hewitt called her beau “hilarious,” but praised him as more than just a funnyman. “There are people in your life who are just supportive and who just look at you and they see who you are,” Hewitt told Ellen DeGeneres last year. “And [Jamie] really saw who I was as a person more than anybody had ever done in my whole life. I think that’s for me when I sort of went, ‘Oh, wow.’ ”

Jamie Kennedy’s Hot Valentine Plans for Jennifer Love Hewitt

Though Valentine’s Day is still more than two weeks away, Jamie Kennedy isn’t waiting to be loving.

“He’s done a bunch of romantic things just because that’s who he is,” says girlfriend Jennifer Love Hewitt. “It’s hard to pick just one.”

Kennedy does have something special up his sleeve for Feb. 14, which he plans to celebrate with Hewitt in Massachusetts. Without getting specific, Kennedy, 39, said there would be “a little chocolate, a little roses” involved.

“I’m going to do very good this Valentine’s Day,” the actor-comedian told PEOPLE Thursday while hosting the Tao-A-Go-Go dance contest at Tao Las Vegas. “You will hear about it.”

He will have his work cut out for him, though. Hewitt, 30, clearly knows the definition of her middle name.

“She’s the most romantic person you will ever meet,” Kennedy said of his girlfriend of nearly a year.

Jennifer Love Hewitt: Breakup Rumors Are ‘Hurtful’

Buzz about an impending breakup between Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jamie Kennedy is just that – buzz, according to the Ghost Whisperer star.

“I’m not going to lie – it’s not annoying, it’s hurtful,” Hewitt told PEOPLE Saturday at the Children’s Institute Hosts Poker for a Cause in Commerce, Calif., to benefit Ghost Whisperer costar Camryn Manheim’s charity.

“It’s really hurtful that people say that,” says Hewitt, 30, who attended the event with her beau of 8 months, costar Jamie Kennedy. “Because he is like the most awesome person.”

Adds Hewitt: “I really hate that people would make it seem like he’s not really a good guy, and not treating me well. He treats me very well.”

A recent report suggested that Kennedy, 39, is still hung up on a former flame while dating Hewitt, a report Hewitt’s rep dismissed as a false claim by a disgruntled former employee.

“We are just trying to be really happy,” Hewitt says. “It makes it hard to do that when everybody is putting negative energy out there.”

Kennedy, who stood beside Hewitt, added: “I am lucky to be with her. And I love her very much.”

Could Jennifer Love Hewitt Be Wonder Woman?

The Hollywood ladies all want to be Wonder Woman.

Even though a live-action take on the tiara-wearing, gold-bracelet-sporting, Amazonian superhero has been stuck in development hell for years, a wide swath of actresses has been itching to don that star-spangled suit and bring Wonder Woman back into the pop-culture mainstream.

Beyoncé has said she’d like a shot. Vanessa Hudgens wants a go. Keri Russell actually portrayed Wonder Woman, albeit in voice only for an animated DVD. Jessica Biel hasn’t ruled out taking the part. Meanwhile, Megan Fox has been outspoken in her criticism of the character. And then there’s talk of supermodel Megan Gale and “Legend of the Seeker” star Bridget Regan.

Of course, at this point, there are only rumors that a big-screen adaptation is finally moving forward. That hasn’t stopped another actress — perhaps an unlikely candidate for superhero-dom — from volunteering for the gig.

“I want to play Wonder Woman really badly,” Jennifer Love Hewitt told MTV News at San Diego Comic Con. “I want them to make the movie of Wonder Woman, and I want to play Wonder Woman so bad. That’d be really fun.”

From “Ghost Whisperer” and “Garfield” to a super-strong woman with an invisible plane and a Lasso of Truth? Hewitt told us she simply wants to do an action movie, mentioning “Tomb Raider” as another possibility. But she thinks she’d be the perfect fit for Wonder Woman, and she ticked off the reasons why.

“Curvaceous,” she began. “Gold bracelets! Look at these wrists — tell me gold bracelets would not look good! And I love little tiaras, and Wonder Woman got to wear one of those. I’m very athletic.”

Jennifer Love Hewitt Lobbies For ‘Twilight’ Role

Jennifer Love Hewitt may be dating Jamie Kennedy, but that doesn’t mean that the “Ghost Whisperer” star isn’t pining for the man who plays Edward Cullen. You see, Twilighter Hewitt is all about Team Edward.

“Who’s not Team Edward?” she asked MTV News at Comic-Con, where she and her “Ghost Whisperer” co-stars talked about the fifth season of their supernatural CBS series. “There is not a girl in the world who’s not Team Edward! Have you met girls who are not Team Edward? Well, they are not girls! They’re aliens from another planet who should not be allowed to exist.”

Unfortunately for Hewitt, she didn’t get a chance to meet Robert Pattinson at Comic-Con, but at the same time, she isn’t sure she’d have the capabilities to handle an encounter with him in the flesh. “I’d pass out. I can’t talk about it, ’cause I’d pass out,” she said. “It’s because he’s Edward. Listen, Edward can fly you through the forest. He’s like Aladdin with vampire teeth — there’s magic-carpet rides. He can sing. He can watch you sleep. He plays music. He sniffs your neck. I mean, please!”

Although Hewitt missed out on the “Twilight” panel at Comic-Con, she was holding out hope she’d get the chance to meet another much-loved vampire cast. “I’m bummed because I missed ‘Twilight.’ I wanted to see them so badly, but they were here before I got here, so I was bummed that I missed them. But I’m hoping that some of the ‘True Blood’ people are still here so that I can see them, ’cause obviously I have a vampire thing.”

With her former “Can’t Hardly Wait” co-star Peter Facinelli in the cast, is there any chance that Hewitt may find herself in one of the next “Twilight” films? She hopes so. “I want a part so bad. Any part’s fine. I will be the vampire who carries Robert Pattinson’s luggage in the airport, that is the part that I will play if they need it,” she said. “Jamie wants to play a werewolf, so we’re both putting it out there.”

Jennifer Love Hewitt Sells Shirts at Beau’s Comedy Show

When Ghost Whisperer star Jamie Kennedy performed his standup act over the weekend at Comix comedy club in New York City, he got some over-the-top help from girlfriend and co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt. She posed for pictures with fans – and worked the merchandise table selling Kennedy’s T-shirts and DVDs.

PEOPLE caught up with Kennedy after his set, and it’s clear the comedian is completely smitten. “I’m really lucky because I get to play all over the United States and my girlfriend comes,” he says. “She’s so amazing, just the most supportive person I’ve ever been with.” In March, Kennedy confirmed the pair were dating.

Hewitt has even used her handicraft skills to help boost sales. “She took my shirts and bedazzled them,” Kennedy says. “She would take regular shirts and put sparkles on them, and we actually sold out of them – people go nuts for them.”

How does Kennedy repay his girlfriend for all her loving support? “After the show she gets Pinkberry,” Kennedy jokes. Kidding aside, he says Hewitt is “writing a country song, and I really want to make her a new demo for her music, because I think she should do singing again. She’s so good.”

The couple have made sure to align their work schedules to spend as much time together as possible. “We’re actually both doing a movie in Philly right now, a drama called Café, and I’m very excited about that,” says Kennedy. “Then we go back to work [on Ghost Whisperer] June 19, and she’s directing the opening episode.”
